Should I Stop Being So Serious All the Time?

I’m going to start this essay with a question:

Are you a serious person? Or are you a happy go lucky person?

For as long as I can remember, I have always been very serious. What I’m talking about is deep in thought, everything I do has tremendous weight to it.

When I was 5 years old, my father introduced me to the game of wiffle ball. If you’re not familiar with this game, it’s slightly different than baseball in that the ball is plastic and looks like swiss cheese.

Yes, there are holes poked through the entire surface of the ball.

These holes act as aerodynamic forces on the ball, so as you throw it, it makes it very difficult for the batter to maintain eye-hand coordination. It’s a fun game and so my dad and I used to play it in the front yard.

But for some reason, I got the idea in my head — that I should try and hit the wiffle ball over my house.

Yes, you heard me.

I wanted to hit the wiffle ball clear over the roof of my house from the front yard to the backyard.

And so everyday after Kindergarten, I would go outside into the front yard and practice…
